An established and expanding UK financial organisation is seeking a Trainee Risk & Financial Analyst to join its London headquarters. This is a development-focused position designed for a driven graduate or early-career professional who wants to build expertise in financial oversight, data analysis and corporate risk management.

The role provides direct exposure to how organisations monitor financial stability, manage exposure, and support executive-level decisions. Working alongside experienced analysts, you will gain hands-on involvement in real reporting cycles, forecasting exercises and risk assessments.

Role Overview

As a Trainee Risk & Financial Analyst, you will support the finance and risk teams in evaluating financial performance and identifying areas of potential exposure. You will help translate complex data into structured reports used by senior management.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Assisting with financial reporting and variance analysis
  • Monitoring internal risk indicators and performance metrics
  • Supporting budgeting and forecasting processes
  • Contributing to liquidity and capital monitoring exercises
  • Preparing monthly and quarterly management information packs
  • Analysing trends across revenue, expenditure and operational performance
  • Supporting internal control reviews and compliance checks
  • Assisting with scenario modelling and sensitivity analysis

This role combines technical financial analysis with strategic awareness, offering a well-rounded introduction to corporate finance and risk management.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Accounting, Business or a related field
  • Strong numerical and analytical capability
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Commercial curiosity and an interest in understanding how organisations manage financial risk

 

Previous experience is not essential. A strong academic background and willingness to learn are highly valued.
